Oh please. Here in Cincinnati our stores are gorgeous, huge and have amazing selection. And their Marketplace model will no doubt spread throughout their territory.

I live in DC but I am from Cincinnati. The only nice Krogers in Cincinnati are in Blue Ash, Montgomery and Hyde Park. The rest are ok but not that great. The bought Harris Teeter in the mid-atlantic but I am afraid they will screw those stores up. In general, Krogers meat, produce and fish department has a lot to be desired.

From my experience, in the southwest Abertsons are not that good and Safeways are really nice.

can't believe all the hate for a union store. I don't see any difference and I certainly don't begrudge places that pay a living wage.

Albertson's is owned by Cerberus Capital Management. Safeway will now be owned by just another private equity company and it will probably end up being worse than it already is. I avoid the Safeway closest to me like the plague - and it's a shame because it's actually the closest of 4 grocery stores around me, so they would have had my business if they ever had more than 2 checkout registers open, didn't sell 4-day expired meats, and had adequate shopping carts available.

There are a few Albertsons where we live now, and I like them but they need to remodel all the stores--I stopped shipping there when I was pregnant because the bathroom was gross. But their employees have always been friendly and helpful. Our other stores are Safeway and a Kroger owned chain and both have remodeled stores, are clean, and the employees are helpful and friendly. But that's probably more a function of being in flyover country. Service was miserable everywhere when we lived in Arlington.

Ughh bought by albertons another shit union store. More of the same crap.

I used to live in an Albertson's area. It was okay, but not great.
