NO, not everyone has the fat and belly magically fall off, whether at weaning or any other time. Duh. Did you really need to post a thread to confirm that? Just look at the 500 threads about difficulty losing the baby weight. Or maybe just use some common sense.
Respectfully, the 500 threads about difficulty losing baby weight aren't really useful to me. I was wondering if anyone else had the experience of suddenly losing a noticeable amount of body fat within days of weaning. My home scale put my body fat at 10% this morning and usually it is around 15%.
That doesn't sound healthy. I'd talk to your doctor about that and given your preoccupation with your body fat, monitored by both your home scale and self-pinching, you may want to ask for a pysch referral as well.
YES! Although I'm not sure they can cure stupid -- or self-involved.
Stupid for suddenly losing body fat due to weaning? Or stupid for posting about it on a forum full of compassionless people like yourself?
No (new poster here) - for being clueless and/or insensitive. Do you really think that it's common to get an 'instantly flat stomach' after weaning? Do you live under a rock?
Having a different experience than the one you have and posting about it is not insensitive. Obviously I was reaching out to those who may have had a similar experience. You and some other posters are acting as if posting about unintentional weight loss d/to weaning on a parenting board is akin to bragging about your BFP in the infertility forum. It isn't.

With both kids I lost a lot of weight breastfeeding, and with the first went about 5 pounds below my pre-baby weight. I gained it back and got back to normal, healthy weight after weaning. With my second, my BMI is hovering at just below healthy weight and I weaned over a year ago. Have had thyroid checked etc., all is normal. Dr. said babies just may have changed my metabolism.
FWIW my mom was always super tiny and then her metabolism slowed at 40 so I expect the same. She is still not overweight but has to watch what she eats much more carefully now and is always trying to lose 5 pounds.
OP here. My mom was always really tiny and ended up getting thinner with each child. I didn't even think to ask her if this happened when she weaned. I suspect pregnancy may have changed my body composition. I have always been thin, but pre-pregnancy my body fat was usually in the 17-20% range so this is a big change. Even my face looks different.
