A good reason for both parents to be involved in childcare and running the house, IMO.

Nope. Not in this house. I didn't stay at home until the older kids went to school. One of my school-aged sons threw up this morning. You can bet that my husband, away on business, doesn't want to deal with that. It seems like there is always a snow day/ doctor's appt/ after school sports/illness, especially when you have three kids.

Agree. I am a SAHM of 4 school age kids. While I am sure my husband would love the extra income, he literally wouldn't know how to handle things like snow days, needing to pick up the kids early if they got sick, etc. He has always had me around to take care of that.

It depends on the whole family situation. My DH, while well compensated, makes nowhere near $500K; I really love to work; we stopped at two kids, in part so we could both continue to pursue careers.

I am in the same boat as a pp, I wouldn't mind returning to work but the kids and DH really appreciate that I'm at home. DH is a high earner, in excess of 500k, travels, and doesn't want to deal with running the household.

My wife stays at home; there's no fucking way I could ever do it.
My work is brutally hard but there's no amount of money that could get me to switch jobs with her; I'll never tell her either.

I don't put controls on money and I don't ever question her decisions; she is treated as an equal partner in our operation.

But sometimes I do really miss the $98k she used to bring in.

My DH wants me to stay at home AND bring in a paycheck. Hmmm . . . it's one or the other until I hit the Lotto.
