Fogo de Chao at lunch is great - usually empty and the salad bar is not pricey at all.

It's totally appropriate to bring a child there. Have a great time!

It’s a great place to take your toddler because there are lots of foods they can sample without making the commitment of getting an entire dish of it. As far as toddler friendliness, it is and if they have a kids menu and encourage kids, eating free and the restaurant agrees.

I think when people don’t want toddlers in restaurants what they really don’t want are bad parents of toddlers at restaurants. I think if you mind your child and if you’re not running or screaming, then you are fine.

So I know this is commented on way in the future, 10 years to be exact but I too was looking into toddler and Fogo De Chao info. Yes, I know that kids are allowed at the restaurant but I was more looking for how parents go about feeding them if there is like a kids item or if they just give them what's given to adults as far as the experience. Im appalled at the responses to say the least but I can understand that the clientele is mostly adults only and expensive gatherings. That being said, at the end of the day it's just a higher priced restaurant and im sure parents taking their kids would take them so long as they're behaved in some way.

I've taken my twins there a few times. Very good for kids, since you can get lots of stuff they will eat from the salad bar immediate once you are seated. The bread, plantains and other stuff are good too for young children who can't chew up steak yet. My 2 year olds would go to town on the sausages and the chicken, but the steak is a bit of a chew for them.

I think it is a very family friendly place.

For all of the "holier than thous" out there...it really depends on the kid. I don't want a kid anywhere who screams and runs around. On the other hand, if they can sit there and amuse themselves, then fine.

At a place like Fogo, you get up to go to the salad bar to get stuff. If your kid starts running around, then that is going to upset other diners who have paid a lot to eat there. Have a little respect and consideration for others w/o assuming we all hate kids.

Our kids love it. Ages 3 and 6.

The 3 year old is all about eating odds and ends from the salad bar. One of us takes him up with us to look as soon as we are seated and then fills a plate with all the completely random stuff he wants to try. Plus lots of cheese and fruit. That keeps him happy and busy until the "meat guys" start coming around. Sometimes he'll try a few of those things, but usually it's just salad bar.

The 6 year old feasts on the various meats. There's really no other word for it. She loves it!

As for the ambiance or atmosphere . . . you anti-kid types have got to be kidding. Brazilian steakhouses like this are fun, loud places with built-in entertainment. Kids blend right in to the scene. It's not like these are quiet, romantic restaurants!!

And by the way, lunch is a far better idea than dinner. As is always the case when it comes to kids and restaurants.

Always bring something to occupy your child, like a couple of small toys or a video game on your phone at restaurants, that way when they are full and you are still eating they have something to do and they don't get antsy.

We went with our 3yo and had no problems.

Personally think it's fine to take toddlers there. The one in baltimore is near a lot of museums And we just took my 3-yr old there last week. In fact, she enjoyed the food. And I don't think the manager there was surprised to see kids. He was super friendly to my dd.

I was assuming that Fogo was like other Brazilian steakhouses that I have been to, and I was going to tell you it's a good choice for a toddler. But now that I hear that there's not food there, I'm thinking I might change my answer.

How does this restaurant stay in business? Most people I know choose to patronize restaurants that offer food.

Totally agree that it s fine to take a toddler there. Our toddler is two and we've been there about three times in the past year. As others said, the place gets loud and if your toddler starts acting up you can take her/him out for air if you feel that it's needed. There's people walking around, going to the salad bar, etc. so it's not a big deal to leave your table.

Agree with the poster about kid friendly restaurants such as Nando's, hill country, and matchbox. We also live downtown and other restaurants we find kid friendly (for lunch or early dinners) are Ella's, PI pizzeria, The Pig, B Too, Rosa Mexicana.
