Couldn't tell if it was actually snowing, think it was the wind blowing the snow around but it was white everywhere. Was thinking a 2 hour delay, now thinking they should close. That's the view on the Hill near Lincoln Park, no plows all day.
They just posted DCPS is closed for teachers and students; "Schools will be closed on Wed, 1/22 for all students & non-essential school-based staff. #snowday (1/2) pic.twitter.com/JuUmRW7jk9" DCPS twitter page.

DC is a city. You don't need a car to navigate it with your student(s).
But if a large part (majority?) of your staff and teachers are coming from the 'burbs, and when only 25% of your students attend their in-boundary neighborhood schools, city or no city - it doesn't make sense to risk safety to open.
OPM 11:30 apparently, wonder that would put a DC 2 hour delay?
where did you see OPM notice about gov opening at 11:30? I was just at OPM's web site and there was only the news about the gov being closed today. I need to work tomorrow and DH is a Fed, so I am really hoping the gov is closed if DCPS is closed
It was on the Washington Post Capital Weather blog page, but from further digging I think that is Maryland only and depends on were you work. SSA is 4 hours. I guess we'd better wait for the general closing announcement.

+1 I hate when people apply their own situations to the entire city. I need a car to get my kid to school, metro/bus not an option. My streets haven't been plowed either. I am certain we will be closed tomorrow.
