Pretty strictly enforced by most teachers. I was five minutes late yesterday, and we are hardly ever late. My 1st grade teacher let them slip in no complaints, my PK4 teacher however, is pretty damn strict, and even though this was rare for is, it was still books in the lobby until 9:10. Not the worst thing to spend some quality time reading to my 5 year old and chatting up the principal.... But if you're chronically late, it could be an issue. Also pretty diligent about tracking absences.

There is a rule that if you are late you cannot interrupt morning meeting and have to wait. Not sure how strongly it's enforced. Kids are generally dropped off between 835-845 and kids can come earlier than that for aftercare or breakfast. It is a little confusing but seems to work out with the principal standing on the street greeting kids by name each morning.

OP here - they definitely mentioned this in the open house, so they said no one is really ever late. I had it in my head that it was 8:30, but clearly it is 8:45 and no 8:30. Thanks, all, for all this information!

There is aftercare and before care. One kid in both (5 days a week) is $375 a month. Before care starts at 7:30 and aftercare ends at 6:00.
8:45 is correct.

Agree with PP about start time. Aftercare is about $300/month. I can't remember exactly but I have two kids in part-time aftercare and it's $315/month.

Can any SWS parents confirm what time the school starts, and what time a child is considered tardy? (I am one of the many DCUMers creating a spreadsheet with this kind of info in it.) At the open house, I'm almost sure I remember that they said school starts at 8:30, but on the my school DC site, it says 8:45, which is in line with other DCPS schools.

Also, does anyone know the cost of the after-care?
