I think it's a one-time date change so as not to conflict with the DME Boundaries/Feeders meeting. Locations are always TBD -- check in a day or two ahead for info.

I just looked on their website and see that the next meeting on the calendar is actually Tuesday, January 21st. It does not list a location as far as I can tell.

I think all the commonality needed is bringing together parents who want to learn from each other and work for better schools. I believe it grew out of the success of the school libraries project and was originally envisioned as a way for leadership at neighboring PTAs on the Hill to trade info and best practices. Every PTA president and principal are invited to every meeting. Some come, some don't. Some pass that info along to parents, some don't. Every meeting is open and info's always posted ahead of time on the web, Facebook, and Twitter (@CHPSPO).

Next meeting is 1/22. New faces are always welcome.

Where is the commonality of interest? The Cluster has an interest in improving SH, as do feeders like LT. Maury has an interest in improving EH. Amidon is interested in improving Jefferson.

What a joke.

I agree. The school is invited to send representatives. As if CHPSPO represents the school. And what exactly is the process for selecting representatives? How about posting bylaws of this organization?

Thanks. How are school representatives chosen? How many from each school?

According to website the next meeting is January 14. The Brent LSAT will be addressing the student assignment (feeder) process at the December 18 meeting.

Someone wrote that these meetings happen every month. Anyone know when and where the next one will be held?

on what planet does "only" precede an income of $250,000. Even in the DC metro area with a high cost of living, that is clearly a lot of money.

I notice you all address all the people on the Hill who were unaware, but don't seem to respond to why they seem to want to speak for the rest of Ward 6.

I think, given their name, they have a responsibility to reach out to the community as a whole. I.e widely spreading news of their meetings and agendas and policy papers.

Otherwise, why don't they just lobby politicians and advocate under their own individual names?

It's not a bad idea for an organization, it just isn't done that well.

Agreed. But CHPSPO and its self appointed (anointed) group is not representative of the parents it purports to speak on behalf of. Further, the way CHPSPO did it last time (in 2010) was an utter failure, and they are going down the same road again.

Next you'll tell me Jesse Jackson doesn't actually speak for all black people.

It's an advocacy group, people. If you don't like it, form a counter movement. Or, go to one of their meetings. I've never been but they seem to happen every month.

I'm IB for the Cluster and this is the first I've heard of any of this. What gives?

Are you asking us to guess why you were unaware? If so, I'll go with lack of interest.

I haven't been able to help knowing about CHPSO and their activities the last few years. Skull and Bones they are not.
