Yeah, you're clearly upset about your own issues with breastfeeding and feeling judged. Do you think your husband judges you, or do you know that? Are you projecting your own feelings of inadequacy onto him? "She nursed her baby until the baby was one, so it must be important to her" doesn't necessarily imply that women who don't nurse that long don't care about it. I'm not the world's biggest fan of Gisele, but I wasn't at all offended by the photo. yes, she's rich and beautiful and has a team of people to help her, but it's also a nice way to show that breastfeeding isn't something to be ashamed of or hidden, and I loved that the photo showed all the people who work to make her look so good--it really shows the effort that goes into her glamour. I don't think that we should be judging others on their breastfeeding, and Gisele has made some judgmental remarks in the past, but a photo of a woman breastfeeding =/= judgment of women who don't.
Snort. She's fully glamored-up in that photograph where she's supposedly getting glamored-up.

My SIL seriously thinks that the "cool kids feed formula," her boobs are only for men to play with, and only third-world women with no teeth breastfeed. She doesn't read much. Anyway, the point is that there are very legitimate reasons for formula feeding, but then, since my SIL is a label-whore in the worst way, having Gisele, Kate Middleton, and whomever else celebrate BF'ing would encourage women like my SIL to breastfeed, and I'm for that. The campaign has to go to the far outer reaches of motherhood.
FYI, I BF'd my first for 6 months, and my second I started supplementing at 2 months, so I understand all the reasons women face in trying to BF exclusively.
That being said, I'm also noticing that some men are really getting into breastfeeding. I have male colleagues who ask me very detailed questions about me BF'ing and then tell me their wives' experiences in minute detail. I mean, the questions and comments are all very legitimate, and it's clear the men are very knowledgeable about BFing, and I do think it's cute and a good sign of the times, but it also weirds me out a bit, I have to say.
Which include personal preference for the mother, BTW.

If you know all the rest of her comments you would understand her smugness. She's said some pretty high and mighty stuff about parenting. The photo itself not so bad. But when you put it all together she kind of sucks and isn't very supportive of any other choices than her own...which are right of course.

"Some people here think they don't have to breastfeed, and I think, 'Are you going to give chemical food to your child, when they are so little?' There should be a worldwide law, in my opinion, that mothers should breastfeed their babies for six months."
She's a smug bitch.
She really said that? I guess she doesn't think things through much.

She's not "being pampered" in that picture. She is simply WORKING. That's all. This is what she does for a living.
I forgive any pregnant woman and any woman crazy high off having recently been pregnant of any ridiculous stuff they say, so her comment a couple of years ago didn't bother me at all.
It sounds like YOU are feeling guilty and that's why you're defensive.
So getting hair and nails done is now considered work. Interesting.
Uh, if you're a model on a shoot? yes it is.
No fan of Ms B but come on. Her job is nothing like ours and that's OK. I wonder if non-supermodels shooting catalogs get to BF or even pump while getting worked on.
