I was going to say Busch Gardens has their Christmas Town going on right now so Wburg would be ideal for a toddler.

Kingsmill in Williamsburg. The food is good and it has kiddie stuff and an indoor pool. Shorter drive than The Homestead or the Greenbrier. A really short drive is Landsdowne in Ashburn. Short drive, get a sitter, go to the spa, get room service.

OP how about Florida or Aruba, Mexico? You simply can get to these destinations quick and easy and once there; there will be plenty to do. Good luck.

I hate the Gaylord too. It is owned by Marriott now. Not luxurious at all. I had to stay there 4 nights for a meeting. Food at restaurants was expensive and awful. Rooms were average. The holiday light show was interesting, but that is for 10 minutes and the decor was nice - not enough for a vacation though. Locally, I would do Greenbrier or Homestead.

If it were me I would limit the flight to two hours - so Florida is your best option. Kids will love the pool and beach. The warmth and sun will make everyone feel better. I've taken my toddler to the Westin Diplomat in Hollywood, FL for long weekends. The hotel has 3-4 restaurants so you can eat at a different place each night. You can also walk along the beach to the boardwalk with cheaper food options. Unlike Ft. Lauderdale hotels, it is truly oceanfront. No need to cross the street to get to the beach.

From what OP wrote, it sounds like she just wants an opportunity to relax and enjoy her kids. She also said she wanted to get away "from" the holiday. Sounds like she's had a tough year.

A toddler and an infant alone is no vacation, lets be serious. Help would and should be welcomed!

The Lagomar in Fort Lauderdale. Old but lovely, right on the beach. Lovely shops on Las Olas Boulevard too.

Have you looked into Nemacolin? The childcare there starts with really little kids, and there's a shallow/family pool. Shopping would be limited to stores at the resort, and the food is nothing special, but it would be easy and I think your kids would have fun.

I'm going to concur on going to the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego. It's such a kid friendly city and such a gorgeous resort. If your kids are good with travel - go for it! Otherwise I might recommend The Pink Shell on Ft. Myers Beach in FL. Zero entry pool, collect seashells in nearby Sanibel, but you would need a car.
