Lots of kids get sent to boarding school or wilderness programs or the other parent when they are out of control, or they end up in juvenile detention or a group home with CPS.
If she was here, her life might be just as bad or worse. It sounds like she is getting some good life experiences, she has a job, she has a roof over her head, she is safe. In most cultures, teens aren't treated like little children so older teens aren't seen as needing an adult with them all the time. It is probably pretty normal where she is for a late teen to have a job, to be out on their own, to look after themselves.

Three years later, instead of owning her own mistakes and apologizing for them, she still only gives excuses and blames others - she is still a brat and we have tons of those here already. Good riddance!
I could not have said it better. I'm shocked at the small few of you who are being supportive of the brat of a daughter.

I think you are in the minority here, thankfully. Most of us are supporting the daughter. I'd hate to see that parents like her mother and you are in the majority.
Please step up to the plate here, and call up an immigration attorney to see what can be done. Please.

Anyone on this thread can ask an immigration attorney what it would take to sponsor her. Not that hard to do here in the Washington area. But one of you would have to take the risk that her mother will not.
That is exactly what I'm saying. Shame on her mother. Even if she was a terribly bratty, disobedient teenager (and which 15 year old isn't), she doesn't just get to throw away her daughter. Shame on her and shame on you for thinking she was right.
Shame on us ALL for doing nothing.

Her step dad is an immigration lawyer in Northern Virginia. Is it possible that other lawyers don't want to piss off a fellow attorney?
Shouldn't the Virginia Bar step in and take a look at her step dad's conduct?

Mom just wants to wash her hands of her. So sad.
Exactly. So many rich, poor and middle-class children are being neglected very early on. They get constant streams of new sitters/day care workers/nannies. It's epidemic in this area. It's horrifying. We have our priorities screwed up. Little children require stable and consistent care.
Why do you think they're raging?
Oh, please. This girl didn't just 'have a constant stream of new nannies', she moved countries at 2, was never in touch with her maternal grandparents, had different 'daddies' in and out of the house..
That's what I call 'having your priorities screwed up', not sending your kid to a preschool.
What kind of oreschool does an infant need?

Unstable, inconsistant care of children is a bitch, isn't it?
Yes, it is. So is 'inconsistant' grammar.
