You can exchange/return them and buy cheaper items for your child, it is fine. Don't use the money on anyone else, though. I know you say you are just using the jeans as an example, but it is weird that you raised it.

And then when they are older, make some panties out of it so you can keep on wearing it. Make sure to leave extra room.....just so you can CONTINUE TO GET YOUR PANTIES INTO A BUNCH.

In fact, I think some people might be sickened by $80 baby pants.

I would sell them. No big deal. It's ridiculous to spend so much on baby clothes when they will outgrow quickly.

Almost every baby gift I got, I returned if I could. And if that wasn't an option and I could get a decent amount for it, I sold it online. I had so many hand-me-down clothes and gear and toys that we didn't need hardly anything we got new. And if we kept it all, it would have taken over our small apartment. I wrote really nice thank you notes for these things and greatly appreciated the gesture. But it seemed just wasteful to me to keep it all when we didn't need it.

For awhile, I had a deck of store merchandise credit cards in my wallet for all the returns I had made. My child is now 4 years old and I've used all those store credits to buy him things he really needed. Or to buy gifts for other babies.
