I realize that hindsight is 20/20 but that poor girl couldn't breathe and nobody called 911? Why? I just can't imagine what any of the adults in this situation were thinking...

You are the country where Liam Neesen's wife Natasha Richardson died because he had to go almost two hours to a hospital that had someone who could treat head trauma. This was at one of your country's top ski resorts. In the states..she would have been to a trauma center asap and they would have drained the blood from her brain and she would be alive. Seems strange that our country USA is going backwards. awful just awful.
I have to agree here. Vail? Park City, UT? Lake Tahoe? If the hospital isn't within 2 hours there are on site helicopters waiting. Seriously.
She refused medical care and left the ski hill. Her death had nothing to do with socialized medicine.

She's a very nice 70 year old woman who has some training in things like administering meds for kids, doing vision and hearing screenings and taking temperatures. I'm sure she has also been trained to recognize asthma attacks.
She also likes to spend her day email blasting the entire staff with photos of cute kittens.
Um, I have two RN family members who are employed as school nurses in public schools.

LOL and CANADA had a ONE YEAR maternity leave when you have a child.

Heck, some people even come back from mat leave pregnant with their next child, and YES another year off.
Canada sure does suck.

I grew up in the poor rural south also and we always had a nurse on duty.
probably paid for with title 1 funding.

Never had a school nurse in our school when growing up. When I taught, the PHN came by from time to time--mostly to check immunization, etc
