Never. I usually wear a night gown only, sometimes naked. Hubby almost always sleep naked except maybe 4 or 5 times a year when it is really cold, then he would wear a T-shirt only. Our sons 10 and 8 usually sleeps naked in summer and with a big T-shirt only in winter. They have a few pairs of loose fitting boxer shorts to wear during sleepovers and that is the only time they actually wear underwear. They have been going commando during daytime as well since being potty trained. I really don't see the need for underwear for males, just extra washing.

As a teenager, I belonged to a babysitting club during the late 80's to middle 90's and I remember nightshirts / big T-shirts being very popular sleepwear for preteen boys then. I babysat for many different families and except for one family, the rest all went commando under their nightshirts which was easy to spot with boys not being very cautious on how they sit, etc.

We wear cooton undies under our jammies. But I understand why people would do commando. I figure the purpose of undies is to protect your clothes from your, erm, secretions, butt etc. And if you are going to wash your jammies after each use what difference does it make. But if you wear jammies more than once before washing, with no undies, gross.

Or not. My kids get a bath before bed and then sleep in the same pajamas for two nights--sometimes three when it is a favorite pair of pajamas. So by wearing underwear, we are avoiding washing the PJs after every wear.

For the rest if you judgy mcjudgersons... Get a grip. Just because it isn't what YOU do doesn't make it gross or wrong (either way). Just be thankful if you are in a household with kids and everyone is sleeping. Who gives a crap what they are wearing (or not) to do that.

Sometimes he turns them inside out and says he's wearing clean undies. Heck, sometimes I do that. Haha.

Hmm, interesting. I've always work undies and have never gotten a UTI. I do all cotton undies, so maybe that helps? Kids do all cotton also. Isn't that breathable enough?

+1. DS (6) and DD (4) bathe at night and wear PJs with no undies. DH wears a clean pair of boxers to bed. And I wear sleep shorts and a tank top. Gotta let your stuff breathe!

My children always wore their underwear under their jammies and never had any kind of infections or any issues because of it.
