I'm the Odesk poster. There are ALWAYS going to be businesses that post crap for pay. There are always people who accept the crappy jobs. BUT, there are plenty of great businesses hiring there and great workers getting hired there... for what they are worth.
Don't let a job posting scare you off. There is something for everyone. Show what you're worth, and you'll get hired for the right job.

I work p/t from home while being a f/t mom. If you can find a position w a flexible work schedule, it can be done. My dd sleeps 3-4 hrs a day and goes down at 630-700. I work during the weekends when I need to. I enjoy having the best of both worlds and I'm not stressed doing it.

Yes, yes, yes!!! My aunt makes a killing in Greenwich, CT as a reading tutor. The pay her ridicously $$.
This area has a high demand for tutors. My DH really wishes I had hired somebody to work with the kids a few hours a week after all their various sports camps. I plan to next summer just to keep them fresh.

Start a drop-off playgroup in which you can include your child. People will pay for this.

I looked into Leapforce. It didn't pay enough to cover a babysitter, but if you only wanted a supplemental income, it might work for you. They were also looking for "management" types in certain areas that would pay more.

I would also steer clear of Mary Kay and other product-selling schemes. It just sours any friendship you have. If you want to get into sales, get a job at a mall counter. You could request evening and weekend shifts so your kid stays out of daycare.
Better yet, I think you would be a great backup daycare option - get licensed but market yourself as datenight/backup babysitting. If you get just 1 client on a given day, you could come to them with your kid. If you get 2 clients, host in your home. etc

I'll admit that the most successful one I've seen thus far are the passion parties (certainly not for the faint at heart) but one of my friends seems to have made a pretty good deal of money; this option would probably only be viable if your husband would be open to being on baby duty on weekends, I think she host those parties from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and then spends the rest of the time with her little one.
I have hosted one of her parties as well as a few of the mary kay for my friends who do them and they all seem to be pretty tasteful and a ton of fun, although the passion party is more fun for obvious reasons!

For people suggesting Etsy...you not only have to be crafty, but incredibly creative and doing something nobody else is doing. There are so many sellers on Etsy, you'll get drowned out.
