We moved here last summer from Europe and dog came too-into Dulles. Wasn't great for the dog (I only know that because she was very happy to get out on arrival!) but she is a nervy dog and came to no harm. I was told sedation was a bad idea as it can be affected by air pressure. I'm sure she preferred the airline trip to being left behind or rehomed....

Thanks for responding. My vet recommended that I look at the USDA website, and they had a list of regional Federally-approved vets that one has to contact. Also, there was a list of approved *export* sites, both airports and ports. Maybe these are only for livestock?? They did mention dogs and cats, though...

After hearing about deaths from otherwise healthy dogs on some airlines I would probably take a ship or pay a few thousand to charter a plane. It's not worth it to have a dead dog IMO. OP, I wish you had come back to update!! Are you out there?
