Why do these bags cost so much money? I have seen a couple comments related to durability. Is that what it is? If so, I guess that you have to make sure that you will get something that you will want to keep using for years and years. I don't know if I would be able to do that.

They are status symbols.

This. Classic and useful. Drool.

And I have the exact same purse. Got it for $16 at TJMaxx.

Sure you did... Enjoy your Chinese knock off

I would spend a few hundered on a purse or a couple purses but meh, what a waste to drop $1K on a purse if you can't normally do so.

If you had $1,000 to spend on a purse, what would you get?

The Ferragamo are pretty boring. I like some of the Kate Spade bags, but they are under budget.

I don't get asking the general public, though, because you're the one who has to carry it!

I probably would buy a purse by Hobo International, which I know is not an expensive designer but I really like their style.

And a pair of Frye boots.

You o buy groceries. OP wants to spend HER money on a bag.

You realize that's gross, right? Like, disgusting. I hope someone serrates it with a knife.

Are you married? Did you get an engagement ring (did you return it and buy a bunch of smaller pieces of jewelry)? Was you wedding more than a small private ceremony and cocktail/bbq/potluck reception? Does your car have a sunroof? Do you have an air conditioned home? Do you ever buy something at a regular retail store or do you only shop at goodwill/consignment shops for everything? Do you ever eat out? Do you ever get a mani or pedi? These are things that people choose to spend money on but would seem like an extreme extravagance by others who don't have as much disposable income. You should examine your own expenses and see if others would fund them "gross" or "like, disgusting".

Exactly!

8:26. Why not? Because that is not what SHE wants to do with HER gift.

+1 they're very nice : )
What's with all the 'donate the money' talk? Somebody gave HER a gift card for HER to spend on HERSELF.

My Marc Jacobs bag is really heavy. Why not get a decent (but not $1000 bag) and use the rest for a nice pair of neutral shoes?

I love this one! It looks like an expensive bag. The problem that I see with the other two is that they are so simple that they will be duplicated everywhere. Thee will be many many copies.
