I agree, it's all a matter of preference. If he says he wants to switch, that's your perfect chance. And bringing home boxers, briefs, and boxerbriefs will let you know what he prefers.

Mine have been wearing boxers since they were toilet trained at age 2.

He wears traditional cotton poplin boxers to sleep in in summer. I think he will start to wear the poplin ones as he gets older and my in some boxer briefs.

What is wrong with tighty whites is they are ugly, old-fashioned, dorky, and, once he is changing in front if other boys, they will laugh their behinds off at him. It will be embarrassing for him. DS had one friend who wore cheesy character briefs in 2nd or 3rd grade. DS (and other boys) did not make fun of that boy but did ask what the heck he was wearing. They had never seen those underwear before. Starting in 4th all the boys change into PE clothes together at school so we clued his mom in before it got to that.

Mine are 14 and 16 and have never experienced that. They still wear tightie whities. They have been in charge of picking out their own underwear since 5?

Where do they go to school? What sports teams do they play on. Both are part of it (the boxer v tighty whiteys choice). Honest to God, I was taught that boys from "good families" wore boxers, the nice boys, preppy boys, private school boys. This may or may not be true but my own personal experience would support this generalization.

Damn! How many men have you been with?

LOL

yep, especially if they are the nice soft cotton ones in stripes

My 11 year old has these on today (by hanes or fruit of loom). Don't think he's changing in front of anyone though.

Anonymous wrote:Funny thread. My 9 yr old's underwear drawer runs the gamut from character-picured tighty whitey briefs from target to solid colored boxer briefs from old navy to patterned tighty whitey briefs from gap - he wears whatever is on top of the drawer. When he was younger someone got him true boxers and he hated trying to tuck the boxers into his slim leg pants.

+1 - Yup, the slim leg pant trend does not work with boxers. My boys have a variety of undies to fit what they are wearing or doing. Just like I have a variety of undies!

People from other parts of the US don't like people from the East Coast because women who live on the East Coast tell their husbands and sons to wear boxer underwear. Got it.

It's evidence of the bolded comments.

He wears what DH wears--boxer briefs. I imagine if he asked, we'd buy something else.

Dad here - I've always worn briefs. This is one of the funniest questions I've read on DCUM. DS also just wears briefs at this point. Maybe he'll switch, but moms (most of the audience here), some of us guys wear briefs and are perfectly happy doing do.

My DH and 12, 10, and 7 year old DS's all wear briefs an no one has said anything negative about them. It's not as big of a deal as people say

My 3 yr old has the HA boxers in the rocket ships and the monsters. We also have the stripes. They're very cute on him.
