There are no towns (with a couple of faux-town exceptions) in MoCo. Who cares whether it's Wheaton or Kensington? It is the same municipality; what matters is the school zoning.

Other than that it is one big soulless suburban area.

Kensington heights is not wheaton because when you look up the map of wheaton it stops at the west edge of the plaza. Kensington proper stops at st pauls.... the little area in between are the hieghts. I like it. and I am the same distance from marc as the metro. With kids its great to have target and cosco right next door. we have a great park and people say hello to on the street. great nieghborhood. and great schools

22:32 here. Not sure I understand your question. I live near Kensington Heights Park. LOVE this neighborhood. I really don't think any part of Kensington is bad. I would suggest talking to neighbors of any home you are thinking of buying.

There are some very successful families in my neighborhood who send their kids to Einstein. I know nothing about the school first hand. My child is too young and I don't even have friends with teenagers. I know there are a lot of people in the WJ district who will badmouth Einstein but they all need to justify spending $200,000+ for their homes to ensure their kids go to WJ. I don't think people should really comment unless they have confirmed stats or experience to back it up (and I do not).

If your question/concern is living near Einstein itself, I don't think that is necessarily an issue. Some people don't want buses passing their homes all the time because of noise but this is an issue if you live near any school. The neighborhood near Einstein isn't a problem though. Lots of friends of mine live near there and I never hear anything about crime and they all seem to have made friends with their neighbors.

The major downside of living in Kensington is that there aren't enough restaurants. I don't think too many people would dispute that. Small price to pay for living in a tremendously friendly community.

Kensington is an incredible community. People are very welcoming and it has an incredible small town feel (parades and events mentioned above).
The Kensington heights is basically Wheaton argument is such a waste of time. No neighborhood is exactly like another. Kensington Heights isn't Kensington Estates but it isn't Wheaton either.

Kensington has a few neighborhoods. Kensington Estates typically goes to KP and WJ schools. Kensington Heights has Oakland Terrace or Rockview for elementary and Einstein for High School. I know nothing about Einstein but Oakland Terrace and Rockview are good elementary schools. If your child is young, I don't think you would be unhappy with these schools (we are very happy at Rockview. The new principal is fantastic). So Kensington Heights homes do not go to Wheaton Schools. Rockview, Oakland Terrace and even Einstein HS are all in Kensington! We move a lot and once we found Kensington, we refuse to leave!

We looked at a couple of houses in KH, and while none of them ultimately met our needs, the neighborhood was amazing. My husband took our daughter to a local park and met several friendly people just in the space of half an hour. We thought it was a really nice place.

Lots of kids, and terrific sense of community. There's the aforementioned pool, Kenmont, and playgrounds at McComas and St. Paul and a few blocks away at St. Paul and Plyers Mill. Many of the kids have known each other as early as age 2 at Kensington Co-op Nursery School. Bike parade on the 4th of July, Labor Day parade, Scary Perry on Halloween. What's not to like??
