Ha, yes.

I agree about Gone with the Wind. MM was not a very good writer in general. She created iconic characters, but if you read her prose, especially aloud it's lacking.

I also have to say that The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe movie was better than the CS Lewis original. I loved all of his books, but the same could be said for him--iconic characters, not much style. (The movie sequels though were truly wretched.)

No, Im talking about the Baz Lurhman one

Oy.

What? I didn't think the movie was that bad. In fact I think it was as good as (maybe better) than the book. It's called an opinion.

That's true - this is America. You're entitled to be wrong.

Minority Report.

Philip K. Dick had great storylines but was a horrible writer.

"Lawrence of Arabia" was more enjoyable than "Seven Pillars of Wisdom" by TE Lawrence on which the movie was based.

+1. No way was the movie (albeit very good) better than the book.

+1. Didn't mind the book, but the movie is far better.

The Color Purple. Alice Walker captured something special in her book but the movie had amazing images...Nettie in Africa, Celie running through the field of flowers...the church gospel scenes. One of my favorite movies of all time.

Not a movie but BBC version of Brideshead Revisited. I read the book after seeing it and (much to my surprise) preferred the "movie."
