TECHNICALLY, you claimed you were going to kill him... Tough spot from a legal perspective. he can claim that you were drunk and abusive. Lawyers would have a field day with you two.

I get the 'I will kill you' comment if a man is scaring the crap out of me and may intend to physically harm me he might as well be warned that in self defense I might have to kill him.
