Doesn't appeal to me much, I don't like wings. I'm sure their other food (burgers etc.) is probably fine, but you can get that stuff lots of places, and if it were up to me, I would choose to go elsewhere. If a bunch of people from work (mixed guys and girls) were going and invited me, I wouldn't refuse on moral grounds or anything, but I would not seek it out.

It's true that in the city, you have a much greater selection of non-chain restaurants. A friend and I recently met up for breakfast with our kids way out in the 'burbs, and were going over our choices. Panera? Silver Diner? Maybe Dunkin' Donuts? Totally sucks.

Sure there are chains in the city, but your selection is so, so, SOOO much more.

OK, living in the city or not has nothing to do with patronizing chains

Most of the city has very few chain restaurants aside from McD's and Starbucks or Potbelly if you're around Dupont. So it's pretty reasonable to not consider driving from downtown to outside the Beltway to be a default option. Unless you live near Gallery Place, there really aren't that many.

I went there a couple of times and was pretty disappointed food-wise. Don't see how Hooters is any better than much-hated-here Applebee's.

I don't eat there much (woman here), but mainly because I'm not a huge fan of wings. The last time I went there was 2008 with DH and my (then) infant DD. Pretty family friendly, actually. Went there with my parents once, too. I don't like that the servers need to wear those '80s style socks, though. Those were the kind I used to tuck my jeans into.

I went there a few times with friends because it was near where we all worked at the time and the wings were good, decent prices on beer. But it's not my destination of choice for food. And yes, I'm a woman.

I went there with some lesbians once. So subversive right? Boring, yucky food. It reminded me of a strip club, the girls were REALLY working some of the male customers, showing them cell phone pics and flirting out of control. zzzzzzzzzzzz

I'd consider myself a feminist and don't have an issue with Hooters. It wouldn't be my first choice of a place to eat (or drink beer) but when I was in grad school in a project group with a bunch of guys, we often had project meetings there. (we'd typically prank a member of our group and get the waitresses to make him do hula hoop games and other embarrassing stuff.) I like their buffalo chicken sandwich.

I have no problem with it besides the fact that the girls wear pantyhose under their shorts.

No. I once used the bathroom there in an emergency.
