Perhaps it's not so much that you have a huge rack but more that for a long time you've likely dressed way too trampy and now you're getting older and it's looking even trampier? And your husband doesn't have the heart to tell you this in these terms? I really think that you might not have clear self-awareness on how you present to the rest of the world and I think you have spent a lifetime feeding of the attention that your breasts earn you and that's hard not to use as a crutch. I commend you for your confidence...I just suspect your confidence is clouding how the rest of the world sees you. Do you invest in really good bras? If not, you should. Also, I want to make clear I'm certain that friends who are making insecure comments to me- are insecure. Simple. Done. I don't like posting books on here, so please just go with that simple statement. We're friends and have discussed this for more than 20 years. Everyone is different, everyone has different tastes and confidence levels. I respect my friends and they respect me. I have a ton of confident friends (some big boob sisters, some small). I totally agree with their perspectives most of the time, etc...

You are the one who randomly brought up these friends in relation to your husband's request that you wear a certain outfit. Nobody asked you about them out of the blue. If it isn't germane, I don't know why you raised it.

+1. I've had this "casually suggested" to me for the last 20 years. I'm actually a natural body-builder so my upper body has no problem holding up the twins. I also never complain and don't ask for advice. Still, there's always some small busted person out there to inform me that my back must hurt and I should probably get a reduction. Honey, your man would still want me so that won't matter!

OP - If what your DH has selected for you to wear is going to make you feel ugly/uncomfortable, then you are likely to give off a negative vibe the whole time.

I would try to find a compromise item - something that is modest and appropriate but doesn't make you feel like you're dressed like an old maid.

People are going to talk - you've already established that. So have them talk about how personable/nice/pleasant you are, rather than how awful old-maidy or slutty you looked.

I'm sure there must be a happy medium in there somewhere!
