I know people on the Austism Spectrum that are extremely smart...as in graduating from top school (e.g., Cambridge). Furthermore, on of our current business leaders, Mark Zuckerberg seems to be on the Autism Spectrum (I could be wrong). It is possible to have ASD and be extremely bright

If your DC is "quirky" as in has autism, AAP is not the best place for him--it is very competitive and means for an advanced academic child --hence the name. If quirky means he is smarter than everyone else, join the crowd.

And lord knows that the parents of the snowflakes on this thread will not tolerate any suggestion that their "quirky" kid may have autistic tendencies. That would shake their world view of their exceptional child, who is profoundly different because of profound gifts. Another reason why we fail so many 2e kids (parents in denial).
