My DC didn't get in. 35 ACT, 36 Superscore, Legacy, several APs, full pay, many ecs and volunteer work. We visited toured officially once and unofficially 2 times. Legacy was told since they graduated at every reunion that admissions would look fondly on the applications of legacy if they met academic standards. DC was even told to apply for a prestigous scholarship because of their test scores. Neighbors who are alumni were also told the same thing. We were shocked when the local alumni couldn't be bothered to meet with DC and legacy and nieghbor were surprised.
I am clueless. Good luck. Next kid is going the athletic route only.

It is very plain and simple. DC is over it.
Nevertheless, it is a mystery. You must have a clue. It could be instructive to others.
