PP here again.

Now I get it! Her parents finally couldn't buy her something she wanted! Hence the bitterness.

PP here. Yup.

She's so full of excuses, and she's kinda stupid. You had no idea colleges were looking for extracurriculars? Blame your guidance counselor--and the entire universe that knows this. Dumbass.

I'm guessing her essays were equally as annoying.

+1 She's one of those who will suffer in the professional world because her bosses will hate her shitty, too good for it all attitude.

Admissions officers disagree with you and believe the different perspectives brought by students with diverse backgrounds adds value to their education environment. But honestly, the little girl who wrote this sorry excuse for an op-ed didn't not get in because of the color of her skin.

I don't know how it can be argued that it doesn't benefit the student body to have exposure to other students with diverse backgrounds.

I don't understand why the WSJ published this. Does this girl know someone?

If she is anything like her house then she is doomed. Lackluster and blah.

I didn't find anything special about this piece--why did they publish it?

Note to the author of the piece: This is how sarcasm is done effectively.

Poor kid. She just doomed herself to a lifetime of mediocre jobs she'll consider beneath her fine self.

Maybe she thought publishing in the WSJ would help her application?

Modern family did a whole show on is - two moms and one was in a wheel chair. Knocked the two dads out of the running.

P.S. Oh come on about the headress! DC is home to the Redskins for crying out loud! Plus Elizabeth Warren's story's been in the news. When we applied to a Top 3, the parent who wrote a recommendation asked, "Are you sure you aren't part Cherokee?" This was five years ago. Why shouldn't she speak truth to power?

I like the use of the word "cracker" but she wimped out (or her editor did) and put saltine in front of it.

My best friend lives in Pittsburg and is doing college visits. The college counselor gave them a list of every kid in Pitsburg (without names), their GPA, SAT score and the colleges acceptance. When a school accepted a child with a low grade the counselor (to my friends disappointment) would say, "black, Hispanic or athlete".

She was appalled. She said they still talk about diversity in terms of "Polish, italian, German and Irish".

You can't choose where your aging parents live.
