Of course I would pick private. I would LOVE class sizes of 12-15 kids and to trash standardized testing. Not being able to PHYSICALLY see a test (only the scores - ridiculous!!) More PE time, a less chaotic lunch time, more involved families, more field trips. It would be great.

If I had to make some sacrifices, I personally would do Public K-2 and then move to a private school until 12th grade graduation. Like another poster, if I had to pick only one level to choice, it would be Middle School. That transition was really tough for my daughter. Lots of bullying

I think 2.0 and the new grading system is probably increasing the lower school level applications to private school in Montgomery county.
The current 3 rd graders are totally ginea pigs for 2.0.
Positive feedback and constructive criticism seems to be lacking in our MCPS. This is probably due to large classes.
The system seems to be very test focused.

I think public is a fine choice for elementary and high school. Middle school is the one I would have done private if I could have afforded it. Also, Math education in public schools provides more advanced options. My kids went to public and are 2-3 years ahead of their private school friends in math in high school.
