I like to sit out at night during warm weather and don't like to hear road noise, so I wouldn't buy something so close to a major road. If you spend most of your time indoors, then you probably would be fine. I'd suggest spending time both inside and outside the house listening to see how loud the traffic sounds.

Move back to CA OP. There are no freeways here.

It is much better than living in a cut through neighborhood, off a main road, where one hears ambulances day and mostly, night. Where you get noise pollution on top of air pollution.

My friends live that close to a highway, and there are so many trees, you honestly never hear anything.

The major noise and pollution is from trucks which aren't allowed inside the beltway

The OP's post was over a year ago so she probably made her decision by now.

this study looked at people who lived 100 m from a four-lane highway. 100 meters! hardly the same as 0.4 miles (almost 650 meters).

We are .2 miles from the ICC at our closest point and 1/4 mile to the access ramps. Very little noise. A little more traffic in the area but not much. A recent appraisal has shown that our value has actually gone up since it was completed.

I wouldn't be ok with it.
