So you're saying that a tea her said TO STUDENTS something along the lines of "If you're AA or Hispanic there is a different cut score, and if you're Asian, there is a higher cut score." Again you're saying this was stated directly in the presence of your child???
What did the teacher say when you asked him/her about this? What did the principal say when you shared this? Because if this really happened in the way it's been presented here, one assumes you followed up immediately to such an inappropriate and incorrect statement.

It is not an automatic in, but it does make it easier to get in. My older DD in AAP took the Iowa test recently. The teacher told her class point blank that if they were AA or Hispanic, the minimum cut off on the test will get them into Algebra I in MS. If they were Asian, they have to get a really, really high score along with a host of other criteria to get in.
That's BS
I do not believe a teacher spoke those words. To qualify for Algebra, you need a 91% or higher on the Iowa test and a pass advanced on the 7th grade math SOL. It is not a subjective process.

If your child is white or asian, I would not submit a photo of her.
It was made very clear at the fist AAP expansion district meeting that those were not the demographics the district was trying to grow for AAP. I would not do anything that would bring attention to the ethnicity of your child, unless your child is 1 of the 2 underserved populations that the district is targeting for AAP growth.
Cynical, I know, but honest
