I realize that it is above the intelligence of 99.99% of Federal govt. employees to check the weather in the morning and to tune in the news to find out what is ACTUALLY happening, weather wise and if the area is iced over, then use their mustard seed sized brain and STAY HOME. This is what those of us who are not parasites do.

After whatever storm we had a few years ago -- the one that left people stranded overnight on the highways? -- OPM had a policy change and they now are trying to make weather closing decisions earlier to give people time to plan. It might sometimes cause overreactions, or the appearance of them, but for instance this ice storm is supposed to hit right around 4-8 AM so if they wait till 5 in the morning, to make the call, that's right in the middle of rush hour drive time for a lot of people.
