Subject: Only seven eggs retrieved - need some encouraging stories
This is an old thread but I'll post because I do think it's easy to get caught up in the numbers game at egg retrieval and forget you just need one good one.
For me, 6 eggs retrieved when I was 39. All fertilized, used assisted hatching, 3 day 5 blasts, transferred 2. Have twins who are now 4.5 and the third blast we froze and he is now my 18 month old. Quality not quantity.

12 Rertrieved 8 Mature 8 Fertilized w ICSI.
2 Transfered on Day 3, remaining 6 all arrested before day 5. BFP Singleton that is 5 months old.
You only need one.

At 35 years old I had 6 eggs retrieved. All fertilized with ICSI. Transferred the one blast that started hatching. He's now 5 yo. Crazy that I have a picture of him as a blastocyst.

New poster. my first IVF cycle I had 15-20 follicles, estrogen was around 6000, and I only got 8 eggs because the Lupron trigger didnt work for me. Of the 8 eggs, 6 were mature, all 6 fertilized, and I got 3 amazing blasts. It only takes 1. My good friend did two IVF for both kids- she had 4 eggs the first time, and 3 eggs the second time, and both times got pregnant her first try of IVF (two IVF total, two kids, 4 eggs, then 3). It only takes 1. I wonder though why you had so many empty follicles? For me, it was because of the Lupron trigger.

Out of 6, 5 matured.
And only 1 fertilized.
Fresh Embryo Transfer at Day 2 (4 division).
That single fertilized embryo made it to a now healthy 6 months boy, just started solid food.
Even i had my ER..and got 6 eggs ...
Really stressed .i had 15..20 follicles in each ovary ..but only 6 eggs could be retrived ...

It doesn't make sense because it could still be a failure with that many eggs. It's just one of those irrational IFV things.
If he has poor quality then your RE will do ICSI anyway and choose the best ones. I wouldn't worry.

OP, there is no way to know what will come. I had 6 retrieved, all mature, all fertilized, one blast, hoping for a BFP.

First IVF cycle, had 7 eggs retrieved--3 fertilized, 2 made it to day 5, both transferred.

On third cycle of IVF at 40 had 5 eggs retrieved, all mature.
Four fertilized.
Three made it to day 5.
Transferred two so-so looking 5 day blasts.
Have two amazing and healthy baby girls.

Yep. Over 4 IVFs I had over 80 eggs retrieved (20-27 per cycle) with high fertilization and (supposedly) great quality. And you know what? All that and I got exactly one living child out of it -- just the same as you.
The numbers aren't everything!

I had 10 retrieved 8 mature 7 embryos first cycle... No blasts. Thought it was a fluke and tried again... even worse... 9 retrieved 5 mature 4 embryos and again, no blasts. So just wanted to tell a disaster story because they do happen even in your 20s (I'm 29).
