Am I the only one who is still totally confused about what this actually means. I got this from Jim Graham, which only confuses me more...

Dear Friends,

I’m delighted to share with you the good news that Francis-Stevens Educational Campus (FSEC) will expand to include grades 9th through 12th. The school currently offers pre-K through 8th grade. The expansion will make Francis-Stevens the only DC public school serving all grades!

Francis-Stevens is recruiting students for the 2013-2014 academic year. Ms. Olivia Chase, an FSEC Local School Advisory Team Member, will conduct a recruitment event in Ward 1 at Martha's Table’s Child Development Center at 2114 14th St. NW on January 28. The event will begin at 4 pm.

If you have recommendations for additional recruitment event locations, please contact Ms. Chase at oacfromdc@hotmail.com

If Columbia Heights can have their own education kingdom, then so can SWW. More students equate to more funding and more offerings.

nobody is suggesting that no FS student should get into walls. What is being suggested is that there is no sensible rationale for the merger of two such different schools, and this is rather more likely to harms SWw than FS. I am also sure you understand that the folk on these boards have more interet in a city wide selective high school (which many mAy hope their children get into), than a neighborhood Ps-8 school which is significantly under enrolled and attracts very few in boundary students outside of early childhood.

So... what? Hooray? Ooops? Good luck?

Not sure what you're looking for. A backdoor into SWW is a non-starter, but FS students would probably be a convenient community service project.

I really do not see any benefit to sww in this plan. It really isn't feasible to use the top floor for classes when the main campus is not a short walk. See doesn't even gain the athletic space b/c it will be shared w the younger grades. School should have been closed and given outright to sww. Kaya screwed this one up.

Eastern claims they are at full capacity with IB students (opposite of what I had heard through the grapevine). Remember, it is just 9th and 10th right now, so the school profile stats don't tell the full picutre. They say they'll be completely full, and all in-bounds, when they are 9-12 in fall 2014. I'm not sure where all the IB students are coming from, but this is what I heard directly from Eastern administration.
