I just received a call from an BCBS OB Nurse. I have had BCBCS since the early 2000s; PPO. I’m currently under FEP as a federal employee. This is my third pregnancy and this is the first time they have called me. Unfortunately I was unable to answer their call when they first attempted but I did call back but was only able to leave a voicemail.

I found the call odd as I had never received such a call with the previous pregnancies. This is not a high risk pregnancy and all tests have been normal. I usually request some type of anti-emetic with each pregnancy as I get really awful morning sickness. This time is no different but this time I had to request authorization from my OB in order to have the prescription filled in full. I suspect the call was about that as I had spoken to someone this morning about having the form sent to my OB and then received a call from the BCBS nurse this afternoon.

Right. I do not think it is a conspiracy. It's a way to connect pregnant people with care/services they may need to help to get to a healthy, full term birth. That benefits everyone-mom, baby and insurance company.

I had no idea that a benefit of my insurance includes free rides to prenatal appointments via Lyft or medical transport. Super helpful in my thirds trimester where parking is terrible in most locations I go to. I also got connected with Prepartum and post-partum mental health (therapy) benefits, along with others.
