If you have spent anytime on DCUM, you must know there is trash (and I'm being gentle in my description) that posts. They would not have the cajones to say these things to your face and hide behind their cloak of anonymity with their hoods and sheets in perpetual readiness.Anonymous wrote:I'm the OP! My, my. I hope you provided the same advice for the white parents whose children plagued schools with cheating scandals and ruined reputations of girls with online ratings of who they could sleep with (and, oh, yes, gave points for the mother's as the hottest cougar). You should do yourself a favor and not throw stones as you definitely live in a glass house!Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:OP, stop tripping! It's all just a figment of your imagination. And, shame on you for listening to your intuition, how dare you put up this post.
You have to be honest with yourself and wake up to the reality that you have a bad ass child.
Yes, always listen to your intuition that EVERYONE IS OUT TO GET YOUR CHILD and that 2013 Washington DC is just 1950s Birmingham Alabama with gourmet food trucks. Entrust your child to a school but then, just to balance things out, spend all your time assuming the school is trying to destroy your child. Don't worry if your kid smokes pot at school, other kids probably do too and it's swept under the rug. Don't worry if your kid stays up until 2 am playing video games, that's just nasty teachers trying to break his spirit.
See, proof positive OP, it's all in your head. No worries, your child's school has his best interest at heart. All children are treated equally and with respect, trust the school. I'm sure you're looking the other way as your boy sells drugs at school in the bathroom or on the lacrosse field, etc., and is up all hours doing whatever the hell he wishes, maybe you should reevaluate whether or not you have harmed the school by continuing him there. Stop biting the hand that's trying to help you. I'm sure each time you sign your child's annual contract you are aware that you do yourself and YOUR SON a major disservice by not completely trusting his school, rid yourself of your ancient thoughts and outlandish fears. GIRL I THINK YOU CRAZY.
Do yourself a favor, seek therapy and take a parenting class. As PP says this isn't 1950s Birmingham this is 2013 Washington DC.

I hate to burst your bubble but white parents are reluctant to make waves for fear of repercussions, also. It is simply the nature of private schools where the headmaster has toal control over your child's future. I really isn't a race issue. Unless you are a big donor or have a perfect kid, you walk on eggshells.
If you really think one administrator "has total control over your child's future" I feel sorry for you. Good god, what hyperbole. Does the headmaster take the PSAT or SAT for your child? Do you think heads of schools spend their free time phoning college admissions people trying to keep specific students out of school? Do you think college admissions people everywhere would care? (Remember when BU took the girl who had murdered her mother after Harvard revoked the acceptance?) Do you really believe which of the many top notch colleges/universities your child attends will make that much difference? Does the headmaster control how your child does in college or grad school?
I hate this sort of overdramatic hyperbole. I guess if you pay $35 grand a lot of people need to believe that there is a man or woman in a wood-paneled room controlling their child's future who must be propitiated like a dark and ancient spirit.
It's really about the kids. Promise.
