We set it at 55, and the heat doesn't come on all night. It doesn't usually get down below 60, but we don't mind if it does. We did this even when the kids were tiny. We all have down comforters and sleep cosy.
My family always did it this way, so to me it seems an awful waste of heat to keep it on when you're all snug in bed. (My European mom used to let her babies nap in the buggy sitting out in the backyard even when it was snowy outside. She felt the fresh, cold air was good for us! We were well-bundled, so we weren't cold. Just the air we breathed was cold. I still like it that way.)

Turning it down at night saves little money, we do it because we sleep better when it is cooler.

6 mo sleeps in a long sleeve onesie, fleece jammies and a fleece sleepsack.
