My DD has crazy sensitive skin. The only sunscreen she doesn't react to is coppertone sensitive. For soap we use purpose liquid.

Koh Gen Do is excellent. I've also seen Chantecaille recommended.

Have any of you tried taking Evening Primrose Oil for eczema? I have a friend who swears by it (her osteopath recommended it.) http://umm.edu/health/medical/altmed/herb/evening-primrose-oil fyi- it is not safe to take while pregnant. It softens the skin so much it can prematurely ripen the cervix.

I can't believe I never saw this thread before now. I used to have horrible eczema and reacted to EVERYTHING. How I resolved it:

1. Visit to allergist/immunologist for testing (best first step).

2. EWG guide to minimize sensitizing chemicals.

3. "No 'poo" for my hair (baking soda and vinegar) and Dr. Bronners for everything else.

4. Coconut oil or Eucerin for lotion.

5. Humidifier all through the winter (got a whole-house humidifier).

6. Corticosteroid cream in case of flares, and use it RIGHT AWAY so it tamps things down quickly.

Honestly, Pantene, Dove, etc -- the whole beauty-industrial complex, really -- are awful, awful for your system. Mineral makeups are okay if you're not allergic to their components. Completely avoid parabens, fragrance, and phthalates.

Bleach baths only work for eczema caused by overgrowth of certain skin bacteria. Otherwise, they are harmful since they kill off the beneficial bacteria on your skin that help REDUCE inflammation. Everyone's different, so an immunologist or allergist is the best first step.

This thread has been really helpful as I am searching for skin care and make-up options that might not re-trigger eczema on my neck and eyelids....anyone want to weigh in with other recommendations?

Vanicream--there is a sunscreen and a moisturizer
Aquaphor
Triamcinolone (rx)
Bleach baths--1/2 cup in tub, no soap at all, vanicream right after the bath

I have really sensitive skin and this is the only combination that works for me..

I use coconut oil to remove makeup. Any plant-based oil should work just fine.

I can use Clinique concealer and shadows. Do you know the ingredient(s) that cause a reaction for you?
