This has to be the worst gift we ever got -- totally loud and irritating. The light only works when you squeeze the handle, and it always triggers the bark at the same time -- you can't light it up without the thing barking. Loud and obnoxious. It's marked for 5 and up, though, so maybe for a future year. (It was giving to my 4 year old who loved it! Too bad it disappeared....)

My mom got it online so she did not get to listen to it and it is horrible. I love the loud, light up stuff and I always give them as gifts and everyone said they'd get me back and no one has.

The best one I gave was a blue plastic rocking horse that made all kinds of sounds I gave years ago for $20. It too a lot to take it apart to get rid of the sound. I can't find it for you.

This. Or if you really want to break the bank: an indoor inflatable ball pit. The kids live it but it means you have the huge thing blown up somewhere in your house, there's 100's of balls all over and you can't really leave them unattended while they play in the pit. And it goes on for years and years.

It sounds so simple, but a harmonica (like other PP's suggested). There's nothing worse than a kid playing a harmonica. THEY WON'T STOP!
