For us, we bought our first home in DC a few years ago. While it is far from perfect--it isn't very updated, etc.--that wasn't the stuff that was important for us. We love our neighborhood, where homes don't often come on the market. We even love our particular block, with nice homes and neighbors.

So while there are minor annoyances with our home, we've never had buyer's remorse, and consider ourselves pretty lucky to have gotten into our neighborhood when we did, given that prices have risen since then and we probably would have very slim pickings in our price range today.

I think for me, I've never had this. It was always before I moved into it, but once I'm there, there are things you don't notice anymore.

I always worry if the house will be too small or certain spaces will seem empty. But once you move in, I noticed that the house is still not full enough and I don't even use certain rooms.

We've owned 4 homes, including one that we designed ourselves and had custom built. There's regret/remorse with each and every one of them, particularly the custom build, since we were so involved in its design that all the flaws are magnified b/c they were within our control.

There are also aspects of each house that I absolutely love. When I'm down on the house I try to focus on the positives, and think of them as works in progress.
