Cartier all the way. The Ronde Solo is nice and below your budget.

Get him a nice Seiko and bank the rest. Or put it in your kids' college savings fund. No need to spend big $ on a watch.

OP make sure you know if your husband really wants a nice watch.

In this price range the best options will be Rolex, Tag or Omega. If it is an everyday watch get a chain, if it is a special watch, memorable and more formal get a leather strap (alligator).

For the record, none of these are 'entry level' - raymond weil, tissot, etc fall in that category. They are nice, historic watches that signify an appreciation for the marvels of craftsmanship.

This is a terrific gift idea, You won't go wrong with whatever you choose.

it really depends on style and we haven't heard from OP on this. my own preferences tend to

www.girard-perregaux.com
www.blancpain.com
www.jaeger-lecoultre.com

in each you can find a basic stainless model that hubbie will enjoy. I enjoy a watch that no one knows has any value--it's just for my personal enjoyment and maybe other watch guys will notice.

btw careful w mail order; there's a huge gray market out there sans warranties

very feminine tastes, IMO. I'm a male who wears a nice watch. I'd probably assume you were gay.

One of the dumbest things I've read here in a while, which is saying a lot. And I'm not the watch guy.

The Blancpain Chronograph is anything but feminine.
