What do you mean? PPs confirmed that the FCC put out a notice today about the child left behind.
The particulars (father came to the park, day care worker came first, police came, etc) are not particularly important to me.

In a way, what difference does it make if it was your child or not. The point is that it COULD have been your child just as easily as the one who was lost.

It is heartbreaking to think of how frightened the kid was, alone for an hour, not old enough to talk and just, holding onto a gate for comfort.

Very common when the day care does not have its own playground. Where are you from?


All over the country (military). Currently in NOVA. Never, ever heard of such a thing. Ridiculous and dangerous, given the ages of the kids.


Have you ever lived in a city? This is common thoughout DC [let me clarify that I am referring to the city as opposed to the region]. Real Estate costs are very high. There is high demand for daycare spots as demonstrated by the waitlists that are over a year long. Many urban families do not have a yard with a playset in it and walking to the park is common even for the youngest children.

There are NOVA preschools who go to public parks. Communikids in Falls Church is one.

This falls into the field trip category: organized, self contained and controlled.

A playground at a public park is none of these things.

Regarding taking kids off daycare property, in Bethesda, I used to always see the kids from Sidwell daycare at Lebanese Taverna for the music shows on Tuesdays. I thought it was great that they used to take them out for that.
