No the organic food is more expensive at giant and saeway than trader joes and WF

Well, I USED to go to Safeway until they closed the location near me and it was replaced by a discount grocery chain. :/

Those were decent paying union jobs with benefits, and the store had a lot of healthy staples.

I live in a neighborhood that I swear folsk are *trying* to turn into a food desert.

Fortunately, I live near a decent co-op.

I buy cases of Eden organic beans at Amazon.

Yes, some of us can't afford 100% purity, and I think Giant has a decent selection of organic both in store and through Peapod. I also buy their Nature's Promise organic meats - less expensive for organic than elsewhere.

I'm not 100% organic, but I do likee FRESH vegetables and I cook from scratch The selection at Giant and Safeway are limp and spolied looking. Their variety is horrible and their fine foods non-existant.

I'll only go there if I'm out of my main town and have to stop and get something on the way to a friend's house.

I shop 90% at Wegman's and then fill in with Harris Teeter when desparate.

I don't think Wegmans can be beaten for selection and price.

Whole Foods prices are insane to me. I never shop there.

Plenty of crap and processed foods at WF! You have to shop carefully wherever you go.

I make the rounds of Giant, Trader Joe's and WF. I get cleaners, paper products etc. at Target or Giant. I get the basics at Giant. I try to buy meat at WF (and will ONLY buy ground beef from WF butcher counter, not even the packaged stuff, because I'm so grossed out by pink slime).

Produce -- I will buy organic whenever possible but it isn't always possible. I figure that reducing our overall pesticide load is the goal.

I get deliveries from Washington's Green Grocer. You can get all organic or a mix. He sources mainly from MD, VA, DE, NJ, NC farms, except of course things like bananas, mangos, etc. He always tells you where the produce is from. amd unlike CSAs, you can substitue things if you don't like something in that week's box.

WGG also has local meats and dairy products - good but expensive. But my favorite product is their heritage eggs - they are amazing but expensive at 5.00 a dozen. We love them though so I buy them all the time.

We buy a lot of our food at Farmer's markets where we can form a relationship with the person who is growing our food, raising the animals. We've visited some of the farms, and being there gives us a better sense of where our food is coming from.

If it's a really busy week, sometimes I stop at Safeway to get yogurt, nuts, fruit, etc. all of which are offered organically.

Mostly Wegmans and Costco. I despise the farmers markets here. They are so sad and paltry. I find all the organic stuff I need.

The Giant near us has plenty of great options and I do the bulk of my shopping there. Tons of organic produce, herbs, etc. Organic dairy too and veggie crumbles (for stuff like chili, etc.). They also have organic nuts, quinoa, and whole wheat flour. Great selection of organic frozen fruits which I buy a lot of. I also buy organic tofu from there.

The only thing I like from Whole Foods is their bakery bread, baked goods, and chicken/meat, but we are buying less chicken and hardly ever buy meat. So I have very few reasons to go to WF now. I do like their facial products, lotions, etc., but our Giant even has a fair selection of that kind of stuff.
