That's interesting. So you would have prosecuted Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, and all the other congressmen who were bought off by the GSE's and the sub-prime housing industry? Yes, of course I know you can't jail congressmen for legalized corruption but it's a pleasant fantasy.

PP, the GOP barely agreed to the stimulus plan as it was. Not clear they would've embraced a larger plan. Regarding the lack of prosecutions, I am disappointed, yet I have zero confidence that Romney would have acquited himself any better.

Me. I am convinced that Obama cannot fix the economy. If Romney presented himself the way he was as a governor, we would have a viable choice instead of a sham election.

At times I have figured that no matter what he says to toady up to the tea party and to his fellow millionaires, I figured that when it comes down to it, Romney is a problem-solver who might (I was never confident enough to say would) actually buckle down and do the job reasonably well. But the post-assassination news conference, when he refused to adhere to the tradition of keeping politics from interfering with foreign policy, was a step too far.

I won't claim that I ever planned to vote for him, but I am now scared of the idea of him as president.

I feel exactly the way you do. I guess it's a question of degrees of importance. I attach a high level of importance to pro-choice. I think that under the Dems we've had a strong and active military and I've been surprised at how well Obama (and Hillary) have done on international affairs. I agree that govt is too involved in our lives; I am most worried about Patriot Act type suspension of constitutional rights. Which I think will be bad whomever wins.

I think we've had a problem in this country for a long time now with the concentration of wealth in the hands of an elite. I don't think society can sustain that without, frankly, ending up with severe civil unrest. Which would undermine my nice cozy six figures and house in the burbs of FFX. It's in my best interest to make sure people don't starve because they are unemployed or disabled or too old to work. I think that the Romney committment to cutting taxes for the rich and cutting programs for everyone else will exacerbate this problem.

I feel that I don't really like either candidate but Obama is the lesser evil. "Kick the can down the road" re: Palestine and Israel indeed.


Exactly. Am I the only one who sees a similarity between Romney and Marie Antoinette? That didn't work out so well.

To paraphrase: "I like paying taxes. With it, I buy civilization."
