It's YOUR responsibility. Carry with you until you get to a public trash can or your own trash can.
Anonymous wrote:12:14 again. I especially don't understand the outrage since your trashcan is only out on the street for a pretty brief period, right? Where I live, people drag their cans out to the curb the night before trash-day, or maybe early that morning. And then most people drag the empty cans back up to the house before leaving for work, or maybe that afternoon if you leave for work early before the trash truck comes. So the cans are only out on the sidewalk for about 12 hours, once per week. If there's that much dog poop and flies and eggs and whatnot, where on earth do you live?!? Next to a kennel?

So you'd be agitating for everyone but YOU to put more effort into cleaning up after other people's dogs.

Anonymous wrote:Not a dog owner here. Yesterday I picked up some poo that someone else had left it in the alley and put it into the nearest trashcan I could fine (which was not mine.) Do I get an exception if I'm picking up poo of some animal that is not mine?
If you were really in NWDC, OP, you would know that there are plenty of public trash cans
If you really had ever spent any time whatsoever in the residential parts of AU Park, Chevy Chase, Spring Valley, Cleveland Park, etc etc etc etc, you would know there are almost NO trash cans on residential streets.
Anonymous wrote:No. For some unkown reason our trash collectors reach in and pull out the large trash bags, they do not dump the can in the trash truck. I end up having to fish out the nasty bags of dog shit people leave in it. I don't carry my kids dirty diapers to your house and dump them in your can. Carrying around your dogs shit is part of being a dog owner. Take it with you. Not cool!
Yes, this happens on my block, too. There's lots of little stuff that stays in the bottom of the can forever. A bag of poop will just get smashed down and leak.Anonymous wrote:Here's why not : the trash collectors in my neighborhood don't dump the can, the lift out the large bags. Anything loose or small stays in. So I have to fish it out and put it in a large bag.
In an ideal world, they would up-end the can in to the truck, but their jobs are hard enough as it is. So please don't. Take it home and put it in your own trash. Thanks.
