she shares a name with a current political figure (although we went with a less common spelling, one she shares with an actress). As I said, not that it is an out there name, it just isn't being used much for kids right now due the polarizing nature of the political figure it is associated with. Which really made me like it that much more because she was unlikely to be one of many in any of her classes, something I always disliked about my own top-20 late-70s name. I have yet to meet another one under age 20, although a celebrity recently did use it for her second child.

Name meaning was also important to me, as I always felt my name's meaning did very much fit me. When we were thinking of names, I would first check popularity on the SSA site, then meaning. My daughter's name means "happy."

That really should be enough clues.

I like Willa.

I think that flower/nature/Victorian names are very pretty. Like Willow, Wren, Lily, Rose, etc. Sweet and old fashioned. And yes, she will be anything she wants to be, her name notwithstanding. Dr. Willa Smith, or CEO Willa Smith sounds perfectly fine to me.

I am the person you quoted and I really think you are putting too much stock in a name. Lark is certainly not common but could definitely be a CEO or whatever the heck else their heart desires. I do hope you do not work with children and pigeon hole them by the name their parents gave them.

Audrey - I love it
Lark - I don't hate or love it, but I think of the saved by the bell actress

Ok, Lark is pretty bad. Audrey is eh. I do like Christina, but then again, that's mostly because I like all of the Christina's that I know.

Lark is horrible and lends itself to all sorts of stupid comments. Unless you're having twins, and can name the other Larla.

Audrey is not great either.

Christina is a nice classic name, and not currently overused.

OP - you've got a tidy little group here, and there's consensus: Lark is pretty bad. Why not Willa as PP suggests? You almost sound like the mother who wanted to name her defenseless child Journey. Both names are hugely conspicuous. Like Holden for a boy.

What does this mean? I know what conspicuous means, it just doesn't make sense in this context. Holden is a real name, unlike Journey. ??

To be honest, I went with a name that is rarely used today, but also is not out of the ordinary. I usually get the reaction "Oh, wow - don't hear that a lot anymore" Then I tell them what it means and people say "That is PERFECT" because the meaning fits my child.

I really adore the name Tanith (like the ice skater), but my husband said it was too far out there. Boo
Our runner up name was Evie, which I am glad I decided against because of all the children nicknamed Evie right now.

Lark sucks. Christina is ok. It will probably considered old fashioned by the time your daughter is in school. Like audrey a lot. LOvE the suggestion of Willa.

I like them all. But growing up around many Latinos, I would not choose Christina. I've known like 100 of them.
