My husband is one of the most amazing human beings I've ever known. He is kind, generous, honest, loving... He's a fed prosecutor so maybe that makes a difference?

I married a lawyer and I am a Pharmacist. My husband is not a liar nor manipulative. He is very romantic, loving, funny, trusting, and an amazing dad. He works at an extremely successful law firm but that hasn't changed him one bit.

This, for men and women both. I'm a regulatory attorney, and it is a much more laid-back enterprise than others. We don't really screw people over for a living, and I seldom argue about anything with anyone. DH does technical law, so similarly less "combative." Having worked at a big firm, though, some groups are filled with slimy men (and very few women, period).

Because the sum of a person is whether they are a lawyer or blue collar, and it is self-evident that someone "blue collar" is worthless? I'm sure you consider yourself very "educated," but you have no real wisdom about life.


Blue collar, shacking up? Recipe for successful life, happiness and more than anything, relationship stability right there.

There is such a huge variety of jobs that attorneys do, that it would be so hard to pigeon hole a personality type to just the occupation of "lawyer."

Maybe if he's on the set of "The Good Wife" or in a John Grisham movie, but not so much in real life. I've actually worked at BigLaw in NYC and DC for most of my adult life. Trust me, very few of the women (or men) are particularly tempting, and the most abused drug is caffeine. Yes, I've met some train wreck people, but not too many. Most are too busy working to get into trouble.


I disagree, based on DC BigLaw. No matter how busy, there always needs to be an outlet for stress.

Are you kidding me??? MY DH is an attorney at a very large firm and I can tell you he is not tempted by women or drugs. Everyone at his firm is a huge dork. Smart and hardworking, but dorks nonetheless. This post literally made me laugh at loud at my desk at my large law firm. You people watch way too much TV.


Ha! I have to agree 100%! Married to a big law partner and they are the dorkiest group of people I know.

Depends what you want in a husband. Male lawyers are not often Lord Byron types, but they are reliable, hard working usually. I do second the alcohol issues though.

If he works more than 40 hours a week, he gets comp time. Often he works fewer than 40 hours, but gives free community seminars in the evenings or on weekends to make up the time. Reduced commuting costs negate some of his pay cut. He also gets a lot of vacation time, sick leave and flex time, which he says is a pretty good deal for a lawyer.
