The "wow just wow" bit is usually the sputtering response of someone who wants to profess outrage, but can't string together a coherent explanation as to why they are so bent out of shape.

Correct. They have taken the cue to be angry, but they don't really know what they're angry about.

In this case, anyway, it was the arrogant declaration that diversity is virtuous. Questioning that is not the same thing as saying segregation is virtuous, despite the pp's logical fallacy.

Um, no. Someone's assigning virtue to diversity. As if that's self-evident.

Last few posters need to chill out. Diversity is not life-threatening; the concept of meritocracy is alive and well; and what gets labeled as homogenous in NoVa probably would be considered very diverse in most parts of the world.

You can buy your way into the neighborhoods with little to no poverty - good for you...or something. Your kids will be surrounded by others as well-off as you. And the idea of meritocracy withers.

Finally, the truth comes out. You don't really like your diversity, you're rationalizing your circumstances. Your attitude is rooted in envy that I was able to buy into a neighborhood with no poverty.

Stop assigning yourself so much virtue. Seriously. It's repugnant.

Yorktown is considered among the better high schools in NoVa. It's not widely considered "the best," as there is no such consensus other than perhaps with respect to TJHSST.
