That's right unsafe. Not been repaired (sanded, painted and re-coated) for more than 10 years. Multiple injuries that have not been widely publicized. Worst floor in the county. It costs $15-20k to fix it but the Churchill booster Club and administration would rather prioritize the scoreboard. I've got no problem with the scoreboard in principle but where are the priorities?
Multiple injuries? Please. Varsity and JV basketball and volleyball is played on that floor. Name the injuries and players involved. Bet you can't.
Bet I can. I won't name student names but if you ask a few of the coaches and gym teachers they can confirm. 2008-09 at least 3 concussions and a knee cartilage injury suffered from slipping on the floor. All non-contact. Also that year a serious ACL injury was suffered in a gym class again reportedly non-contact. 2009-10 several ankle sprains, a knee injury and at least one concussion again all non-contact. 2010-11 broken fibula from slipping again non-contact that should have resulted in a lawsuit but the parent didn't want to be in the position of suing Churchill/MCPS but was told he had a good case due to an earlier letter that was sent to MCPS detailing the unsafe floor condition. Again, these were detailed in writing to MCPS and Churchill administration. You don't want to go there - ask for MCPS to disclose the letter - it's all there. And that doesn't even cover any injuries in gym classes and other users I'm not aware of but which Churchill is required to keep records of - bet there are others. Ask any coach who has the worst gym floor in the county and I'll bet Churchill is everyone's top 3.

My kids are at a wealthy school and we can buy things like promethean boards, security cameras, sports equipment, etc. We can't add staff, hire coaches, or anything like that. I don't think a scoreboard will improve the performance of the Churchill teams. And it means that the county doesn't have to pay for a scoreboard and can use that money for other schools.
Our sports booster club raises a lot of money from the concession stand, which is run and staffed entirely by parents. I go to other schools for events and their concession stand isn't open. So some of you complainers may want to take the lead and organize concessions sales.
You are an elitist f-ing bitch.
You can't understand that many parents who send their kids to red zone schools are quite possibly working two jobs just to make ends meet?
just an elitist bitch
So what do you cal the parents who live in scotland? Churchill has plenty of students that get $$ for scotland and a few other spots. where are the boosters for the library? the band etc? sports are king at all schools they bring in money..
