Modest condo in Dupont, one child (in public school).

Have other fed friends in Dupont, West End, Foggy Bottom, Columbia Heights, Mt. Pleasant. All living in small condos or small rowhouses. Children in DCPS or charters.

Anyway, a lot of us live in condos in central neighborhoods with our school age kids. Many more live in the 'burbs because Federal servants are a large and diverse group with no shortage of both hicks at heart and irrational elbow room addicts who can't purchase it anywhere near civilization on their modest incomes.

No, I'm not. My neighbors probably wouldn't say it... they'd just think it silently.

But they have also spent their limited resources on location over excess space.

Chevy Chase, but I worked at a large firm through partnership. My neighbor is also a fed, but bought years and years ago. I have another neighbors in a two fed family. My co- workers live in Kensington, North Potomac (Rockville), PG county and SW DC.

All over the place. Colleagues of mine live in all parts of Fairfax, Falls Church City, Arlington (N and S), Alexandria, Vienna, Prince William County, Bowie, Annapolis, Easton, Crofton, Upper Marlboro, DC. Really depends on what your key factors are - ability to walk to things (restaurants, shops), good schools, large lot or house. We're closer in, smaller SFH, good schools, walkability. And I have to disagree with the poster who said under-40s rent in the region or own in MD. Most that I know own in NOVA. My over-40 friends own in MD, and I don't know any dual-income feds over the age of 28 or so who rent.

Two Fed 14's in SFH in Rockville..bought before the boom for 200K. My co-workers are eveywhere..including many Baltimore MARC train riders.
