I must be thinking of a different kind of finance than you're referring to. Bankers regularly work 60-100 hour weeks, depending on what level you're at. There's the opportunity to make a lot of money, but it's pretty hard to find a 40 hr/week i-banking or private equity position. Corporate finance may be a little more regular, but that's not where I typically think the big bucks are.

OP here, the folks that I know in both areas are not doing all that well, I am talking not close to 100k at all. Maybe it depends on your exact position but they are doing the corporate drag.

I agree, sales. I'm a sales rep and a horrible year is around 150K, and a bang up year around 500K. Work from home when not visiting clients, and all days I get my kids on the bus and most days I get them off the bus.

I can do whatever I want as long as I'm meeting or exceeding my goal. Not everyone can do it, it takes a certain personality, but if you have the ability it comes easy and natural.

You have to build something...a business, sale territory or some thing like that..at first you work your ass off but in 5 to 6 years, you have things running well, you make money, and your work load decreases. So, you might think that Joe or Jane has great hours and makes $$$$, but you have not seen them when they were starting out- lots of risk, long hours, no money. Most people will not do it...they want a pay check every month.

Uh, CEO is not a title they just hand out at some secret society. While one might criticize the CEO's for their pay, the idea that these guys get their jobs handed to them is crazy. You become CEO by working and succeeding. Probably more than half created their own companies.
