We did luggage tags that doubled as the seating card.

Worst gift we got was given out twice! A family friend who is notoriously cheap had 2 daughters get married within a few years of each other, and the same tiny gold painted plastic tray with names and dates & porcelain flower was given out as a wedding gift. When I say "tiny", I mean tiny - it was maybe 2" x 3". Both went in the trash.

Totally agree that the name/date things are ridiculous. No one cares about your wedding as much as you do.

We did a donation to a charity in my dad's memory. Just wrote in the program that it was given in honor of our guests (which it was).

Best: cousin got a bunch of cheap glass wineglasses (not plastic, just not expensive). Put a votive candle in each, tied a ribbon around the stem. That wedding was probably 10 years ago, and they are now divorced, but I still use that wineglass ALL THE TIME. Hey, a wineglass is a wineglass and if something happened to it I wouldn't feel awful (b/c it was not $$$).

Also good: a friend's - everyone got a little jar of amish jelly/preservers. Yum!
Same friend also got all the girls in the wedding custom makeup bags... I know several of us who still use them on a daily basis. Super sweet.

Ours: luggage tags. At least vaguely useful.
Wedding party girls were given jewelry for the wedding - at least one of those bracelets still sees regular use. It was NICE jewelry (ie, not platinum, but not plated crap).

Worst: I can't even compete with the PP's.

We had small bags with a split of champagne, aspirn, and directions to a brunch the next day. (We had a lot of people travel, and we wanted to spend as much time as possible with them)

Do you mean after your divorce? You and your ex can split them. One person gets the clock, the other the key chain.

I agree! Who wants that shit? Same thing with the Christmas tree ornament. You might use it if you're Christian but even then, it's just more crap.

At our wedding, we gave out little baby tree favors (http://www.greenworldproject.net/), which to me was at least a little more environmentally friendly than some of the plastic throwaway crap I've gotten. Most people loved them, and still talk about where they planted them. A few got left behind, but my dad just took them and planted them on his property.

I really liked post wedding getting a thank you card with a beautiful photo of the couple. Still have the photo.
