I didnt when I was younger and my kids are small so they dont know better. Growing up through college, I only ate kosher certified products or at kosher certified restaurants. It meant I couldnt or didnt go out to eat with non-kosher keeping friends (jewish and not jewish) but it didnt bother me. I even waitressed at a non-kosher restaurant. After college, I began eating some vegetarian food at non-certified restaurants and it has become increasingly difficult to stop. It was much easier when it was a blanket rule but now I find myself saying, "its only a salad" or "its just grilled salmon" and I'd like to be stricter about it. There are just fewer kosher restaurant options around here than where I grew up and its hard to remember to pack lunch every day or to cook every night. We dont take our kids to non-certified kosher restaurants, even though they eat vegetarian (non-certified) foods in their secular school.
